One credit reads one recipe page, which can be a photograph or a page of a PDF. HobPad names the recipe, puts its ingredients on a shopping list and copies the recipe, with its servings and method, into the recipe's notes. Naming on its own is free. Every new install starts with five free credits, and further credits are sold in packs inside the app. Credits never expire. Making the shopping list again for a recipe HobPad has already read is free, at any quantity multiplier.
On iPhone and iPad, yes, provided iCloud Keychain is enabled. Your credit balance is tied to an anonymous identifier kept in your iCloud Keychain, so it follows your Apple account to a restored or new device. If a balance ever fails to carry over, contact us below with your App Store receipt and we will put it right.
On Android, yes, provided Android backup to your Google account is turned on. Your credit balance is tied to an anonymous identifier that Android's own backup saves with HobPad's settings, so it comes back when HobPad is restored onto a new or reset phone, and it moves across when you transfer directly from an old phone to a new one. If a balance ever fails to carry over, contact us below with your Google Play order number and we will put it right.
No. Each platform keeps its own balance, because purchases are handled by the App Store on iPhone and iPad and by Google Play on Android. Credits bought on an iPhone are available on your other Apple devices that share the same iCloud Keychain, and credits bought on Android stay with HobPad on Android. Every new install on either platform starts with five free credits.
Your notes, todos and recipes are kept only on your device, so deleting HobPad removes them. Our service holds only your credit balance and the ledger behind it, which is tied to an anonymous identifier. To have that deleted, send a message using the form below with "Delete my data" as the subject. Include the order number of a Google Play credit purchase, or the order ID from your App Store receipt, so that we can find the right ledger. We will delete it and confirm by email. Any remaining credits are lost. If you never bought credits, nothing we hold can be linked to you. The privacy policy explains what is and is not covered.
On iPhone and iPad, your notes, todos and recipes are included in your normal iCloud device backup. Restoring your device from a backup restores HobPad with it, and there is nothing to configure in the app.
On Android, Android's own backup covers your notes, todos and recipe details automatically. Recipe photographs and PDFs are too large for it, so turn on Recipe file backup in HobPad's Settings to keep them in a private folder in your own Google Drive. When you open HobPad on a new or reset phone, it restores your recipe files from there, asking you to confirm Google Drive access if needed. Moving directly from an old Android phone to a new one transfers everything, including recipe files.
